As an adult my fondest memories of childhood are those spent at Sinclair House (now RJCC) where I met and made friends, enjoyed the activities and clubs run at the centre and really developed, as a young adult, my strong sense of Jewish identity. Having supported Jewish Care for many years with my husband we were delighted to get more involved with the charity when approached. Following a tour of local Jewish Care services we were inspired to help Jewish Care engage local people by hosting our own tours and asking participants to help whether it be on a financial or voluntary basis. We have enjoyed great success with our fundraising efforts, however it became clear to us that there were many different ways to create interest and awareness of Jewish Care's work in the local community. It is my aim to reach many more people via The Local Angels, the committee will host a variety of events throughout the year, which we hope people will come along to and enjoy, whilst raising both money and much needed volunteers. |

Moved to this area sixty years ago. Married with one son and one gorgeous grandson, plus one on the way. When I worked I was a recruitment consultant. I have written a film called Cane Hill. Bernice Selby invited me to a most successful coffee morning arranged by the Local Angels. I was very impressed, and offered myself as a committee member. My role within the committee? I hope I would be seen as an all rounder, ready to help wherever and whenever needed. |

I first became involved with Jewish Care toward the end of 2007 when my husband Garry, joined 11 local businessmen who parted with their clothes whilst keeping their modesty intact in the first Calendar of its type entitled “An Ideal Jewish Husband!”. At the calendar photo shoot and later at the launch party, both at my home, I met Jewish Care employees, their supporters and benefactors, together with many volunteers, all of whom inspired me to put my spare time to good use.
I attended a tour of the local services that Jewish Care offer where I was introduced to Gayle Klein and shortly after we came up with the idea for a ladies committee that would raise money in the community on their behalf.
We enlisted the expertise and experience of other like minded ladies whose enthusiasm, as well as contacts in the local area, would be able to make a significant difference to the lives of those dependent on these services. This is how Local Angels was born. I feel very privileged to be a part of such a warm family which is now what Local Angels has become to me. |

I have always enjoyed helping people and when Gayle asked me to join Local Angels I was delighted with the idea of fund raising in our local area. Also I love being involved in co-coordinating events and have fun doing so, therefore if we can make a difference whilst I am enjoying myself with a great group of Angels, more the better .

My name is Suzanne Kaye and after marrying a local lad I started work at Sinclair House in promotions helping raise money to improve the facilities on offer. I then got pregnant and left to raise my 3 children. 16 years on I still hold a love for the centre and felt the need to help raise money again to improve Sinclair House even further. I am also involved in doing Meals on Wheels for the elderly which is a very rewarding job.

I have in the past been very involved with Sinclair House. Both of my children attended the centre after school and in the school holidays. They had many weekends away at Skeet. Their Father and I were on a committee called the Parent Aid and we used to put on functions to raise money for the centre. My late Mother attended the day care centre and my sister used to do manicures for the ladies every week. So it’s very nice to be involved with Jewish Care to help raise money for the Jewish community in Redbridge. |
